Before starting Ozempic, your provider needs to review your health history. It is not safe for everyone, especially those with certain thyroid conditions or a family history of thyroid cancer.

Not meant for type 1 diabetes

Ozempic is approved for type 2 diabetes. It is not meant for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Thyroid concerns

If you have had thyroid cancer or MEN 2, Ozempic may not be safe. Share your full medical history with your provider.

Avoid use in pregnancy

If you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, Ozempic may not be appropriate.

How does Ozempic® work in the body?

Ozempic (semaglutide) is a once-weekly injectable diabetes medication that mimics GLP-1. This hormone helps regulate appetite and blood sugar by slowing digestion and promoting a longer-lasting sense of fullness. It also supports insulin function to help reduce blood sugar spikes.

The most common places to inject are your belly, outer thigh, or upper arm. The needle is very small and goes just under the skin—not into muscle.
